Crafting the Perfect Email Marketing Campaign in Odoo
“Social media is replacing emails” or “Millennials don’t use emails”—you’ve probably heard these myths and wondered if email marketing was dead. It’s not extinct!
In fact, 99% of us check our emails daily.
73% of millennials use email to communicate with businesses.
Furthermore, the global email user base is expected to grow to 4.6 billion by 2050.
People of all ages enjoy emailing. Despite the rapid growth of social media and other marketing channels, email marketing remains a direct, low-cost, and effective tool for connecting with leads and converting them into customers. The success of your email campaign is heavily dependent on how well you write it.
Email Marketing Campaigns
What is email marketing?
Email marketing is a type of direct digital marketing that allows you to communicate with potential and existing customers. Emails are designed to promote your products and services while nurturing leads and encouraging engagement.
Unlike cold email marketing (outbound marketing), which targets leads you find on your own, email marketing (inbound marketing) targets specific contacts who are aware of your company and have agreed to receive email communications from you.
Email marketing is divided into two categories: promotional emails and ‘branding’ emails. You can tailor your emails with interesting and valuable topics based on your target audience and marketing campaign goals.
What are the advantages of an email marketing campaign?
The benefits of email marketing campaigns are enormous. They drive your company’s revenue in many ways.
Improve your customer conversion rate
Email marketing converts at a higher rate than other marketing channels, including social media. People typically use social media channels for pleasure, so messages in their news feed are easily missed, especially if the posts are not sponsored. In contrast, emails are primarily used for business purposes. You have your own list of customers and opt-in leads, so you can understand their individual behaviors, such as which products/services they purchased, which emails they opened, and which links they clicked on.
For example, if you run a nutritional food business, your customers are likely to be health-conscious.
Promotional emails with titles like “Giving a 50%-off code for a new subscriber when you buy combo products” or “Buy a combo, Get a 50% off code for your next purchase” will attract your customers’ interest right away.
Increase your brand awareness
Emails have the potential to capture more attention than other marketing channels due to the daily frequency with which users check their mailbox. Subscribers can easily track follow-up information through marketing emails on the same subject. Email marketing can also help you increase brand awareness among customers for a low cost. Unlike social media, magazines, and television channels, email marketing allows you to save money on printing and advertising fees.
If you want to increase brand awareness, an informational email campaign is an excellent option. You can segment your audiences by their favorite products. Based on that, the informational emails may include an introduction of a new product collection, calls-to-action to your e-commerce platform, or your articles/blogs that talk.
Build customer loyalty
When leads become customers and customers return for more because they enjoy your products/services, you have successfully generated loyal customers. Email marketing can help you build loyalty by sending out promotional campaigns with special deals, invitations to special events, ambassador or referral programs, and so on.
Consider a beauty and health service provider, such as a beauty clinic, where the majority of customers purchase memberships to receive regular spa services. The company can segment its customers based on membership level to create promotional email marketing campaigns, such as offering them a free combination of skin testing and skincare products to commemorate their one-year membership.
This is a win-win marketing strategy for increasing sales and fostering customer loyalty.

How do I create an effective email marketing campaign with Odoo Email Marketing?
Odoo 17 includes an Email Marketing Module, which allows users to send targeted ads or other marketing-related messages to a specific audience or clientele. This module will help the company in its efforts to influence its customers. The module makes a significant contribution to the marketing strategy’s growth. Such effective marketing strategies would greatly help the organization achieve success. The module is a low-cost strategy for ensuring that team members and customers communicate effectively and frequently. The module promotes positive relationships within and between groups.
The whole Email Marketing is divided into 3 parts: Part A, B and C as described below:
Part-A The beginning
When you first open the module, you will see the Mailings menu page, which is shown below.
The graphic depicts how emails include the date, subject, and accountable party, as well as sent, delivered, opened, clicked, and replied buttons. The page is comprised of pre-made mailings. The page is available in four views: graphical, list, calendar, and kanban. To create a similar type of mailing, click the New icon.
On the creation page, you must enter the subject line for the mailing. The recipient list can be generated using the drop-down menu. If the email needs to be sent to all contacts, select the contacts option from the drop-down menu. You can select any item from the list because there are so many options. If not, you can start your own mailing list using the form in the main menu bar. You can choose any mail body for the specific email by selecting it from the Mail Body tab. After selecting a model, we can begin designing the mailing based on our preferences.
You can activate the Allow A/B Test option by clicking the A/B Test button. The next tab is A/B Testing. A/B testing is the process of comparing two versions to determine which produces better results. For example, if Allow A/B Testing is set to 10%, 10% of all recipients will receive one version of the message. To start creating the alternate version, select the Create Alternative Version option. This version can then be shared with an additional 10% of recipients. Choose the most relevant criteria for winner selection, such as the highest click-through rate.
As a result, the criteria used will determine which SMS template wins. This statistic is used to compare numerous campaign variations, as the winner in this scenario is determined by the highest click rate. Once the best version is determined, it will be distributed to the remaining recipients. The date of the last transmission to the remaining recipients may then be displayed in the Send Final On field.
You must now enter specific information under the Settings menu, such as the following.
The preview text is included in the details, and it can be interpreted as an attention-grabbing statement that appears when the letter is opened. You have the option to open this email in multiple inboxes. If the first character of the email is the first, you may leave the space blank. The send from and reply to options can be added, as well as the accountable officer. The feature allows the client to tailor their response to the email they received. You can add files to the email by selecting the Attach a File option. You also have the option of tracking the accountable party.
Once all editing fees have been paid, you will have access to the Send, Schedule, and Test options.
This Schedule icon allows you to set a date for the designated recipient. A new window will appear once the mailing date has been confirmed.
The scheduled email date is visible. When you use the queue option, the email’s status will be displayed as draft. It will automatically send the email on a predetermined day and date.
Part-B Mailing List
The mailing lists option in the Odoo ERP Software’s Email Marketing module allows you to send email to a single person or a group of people. The Email Marketing module also makes it easy to build a mailing list. Using the Mailing Lists menu option, you can easily create an email address. This menu allows you to create custom mailings for the company’s various promotions, events, and advertisements.
Mailing list Contacts:
There will also be a contacts sub-option in the mailing list selection. To create contacts for specific mailing lists, the Email Marketing Module allows you to contact the mailing list. When you open the menu, you will see a list of all the contacts created for the mailing list.
This page contains a variety of information, such as the date of creation, the contact’s name, email address, blacklisted email address, phone number, mobile number, and bounced email information. The page is also visible from the pivot, graphic, and Kanban views. You will be informed whether or not the phone number and email address are blocked. If the contact’s email address is blocked, he or she will not accept bulk mailings from any list. Furthermore, the phone number is the same type that is blocked. There will be no collective grin from the roster. Select the New icon to create a contact similar to the mailing list.
Part-C Campaign
The email marketing module’s campaign helps to boost your company’s profits. The options will be available through the module’s settings menu. The Campaign page will look like the screenshot below.
When you activate the mailing campaigns option from the configuration menu, the campaign menu will appear on the module’s main page.
Within the stage settings, users can explore options such as Fold, Edit, Automation, Delete, Archive all, and Unarchive all. This means that the Fold button can be used to fold the stage from a Kanban perspective. To make changes to the stage, click the Edit button. Use the matching button to archive or archive the stages. Furthermore, by clicking the Automation button, various automation rules can be added while the stage is changing.
You can add campaigns to the stages you select by clicking the plus icon on each step. When you select the Add icon, you will be prompted to enter the campaign name, accountable user, and relevant tags, as shown in the figure below.
When you activate the marketing campaign option from the Settings menu under Configuration, you will now be able to select the Campaign Stage and Campaign Tag.
The module can be enhanced using the email marketing Reporting menu. The reports available through this option can be used to examine the highs and lows of email marketing. The following screenshot depicts the reporting page.
The graphical mode allows you to view pie, line, and bar graphs. If necessary, you can also apply the measures. The analytical report will be made available via the pivot view. You can use the Filters, Group by, and Favorites options wisely.
In addition, the Reports menu now includes a brand-new report called Opt Out. The report simplifies understanding of the subscription’s specifics. The list view displays the contact, subscription date, mailing list, opt-out, reason, and unsubscribe date.
The email marketing module can be used in its entirety to improve the mass emailing workflow. The module and its functionalities will handle all of the risks associated with sending the email.
