Challenges faced by the client:

Technology is not prevalent in a vast range of communities, therefore a majority of stakeholders in the supply chain still use traditional and manual practices which have existed for over a century.

The company was constrained by:

  • time-consuming and redundant manual records
  • lack of traceability in supply chain and logistics
  • lack of consistency in biscuit quality management
  • decentralized operations

Following these bottlenecks, the Diamond Biscuit management team decided to adopt automation and divide the supply chain into two branches, upstream for raw material suppliers and downstream for auction and buyers. They were expecting our solution that would bring advancements in productivity, quality, and safety.

Solution suggested by Jupical:

  • Streamline a wide range of operations (from purchasing to accounting)
  • Save significant time and costs in manufacturing, accounting, and communications
  • Automate end-to-end supply chain processes

Supply and Demand Chain

Before using our ERP, Diamond Biscuit struggled with gaps between supply and demand. Its factories operated below capacity, as most suppliers in India are small-scale and individually owned. The company’s former supply chain allowed it to manage about 5000 raw material suppliers, however, it needed a 30% increase in suppliers to operate its factories at optimal levels.

Diamond Biscuit communicated with flour and sugar collectors through suppliers by messaging or telephone. These approaches were disorganized and hard to trace, so the company often found it difficult to solve conflicts between suppliers and flour and sugar collectors.

Diamond Biscuit turned over a new material when Jupical’s Solutions developed a Supplier and Flour Collector app (in Odoo database) to integrate with the ERP Manufacturing app.

The Supplier and flour Collector app enabled Diamond Biscuit to:

  • establish direct communication with suppliers and flour and sugar collectors
  • add request approvals for packages, cash advances, and other production needs
  • track supplier-wise gross weight, deductions, and net weight details

And, most importantly, fill in the gaps in supplier demand.

Quality Analysis

With Jupical ERP’s RFID tagging feature in the Quality app, Diamond Biscuit resolved this challenge and set up quality regulations for its suppliers. The company’s supply chain team now monitors the quality of flours and sugar with accuracy, as RFID updates quality-checking procedures in real-time. Since implementing RFID tagging, the suppliers have become more vigilant, and Diamond Biscuit receives better quality flour and sugar than before.

Analyzing the needs and process, MRP flow was designed!

MRP uses an essential list of input data from the Master Production Schedule (MPS), Bill of Materials (BoM), and inventory records to answer three main questions:

  • What items are needed?
  • How many items are needed?
  • When are those items needed?

Once a manufacturer enters the essential input data, the MRP analyzes it to determine the materials’ assembly processes necessary to produce orders on time.

Following on the process to keep operations running smoothly, and not be bogged down by problems surrounding material availability, machine servicing or malfunctions, or similar causes that may lead to delayed lead times. By focusing this on continuous output to, from, and inside the manufacturing process, Jupical designed a valuable tool that improves overall efficiency by cutting costs and delivering products on schedule.

With this MRP, the Diamond Biscuit team was able to

  • Monitor current levels of raw materials and components on hand
  • Identify when materials need to be replenished in order to meet inventory requirements
  • Schedule material purchases and manufacturing activities
